HDC Group (Chairman Mong-gyu Chung) held an “HDC Group Future Strategy Workshop” at Oak Valley Resort in Wonju, Gangwon-do, for two days (Jan. 6-7).

The HDC Group revisited the business strategy of each company in-depth and had time to deliberate how to create synergies with Asiana Airlines together in this Future Strategy Workshop in which 30 key members including Mong-gyu Chung (Chairman of HDC Group), the CEOs and CFOs of 13 affiliates, and Hyeong-kee Lee (Director of the Asiana Airlines Pre-PMI Organization) participated.

In the first session held on the 6th, the CEOs of affiliates, including HDC Hyundai Development Company, presented a business strategy and freely discussed it. In the following second session, Hyeong-kee Lee, Director of the Asiana Airlines Pre-PMI Organization, presented key issues on the progress of the acquisition and each CEO sought ways to cooperate among affiliates while venturing opinions for improving corporate value as the group's portfolio has changed.

In the last session held the next day, CEOs and CFOs continued in-depth discussions on the core issues in 2020, how to secure financial soundness, and cooperation and survival strategies for strengthening the competitiveness of each HDC Group’s affiliate.

Chairman Mong-gyu Chung said at the workshop, “The road we haven’t gone before is always unfamiliar to us, but we will be able to solve any difficult problems as we train ourselves in finding new ways with new perspectives” and “In the new year, there are many uncertainties, such as the conflict between the United States and Iran. However, if you work hard with confidence, we will be able to do well.”

Meanwhile, the HDC Group is proceeding with the acquisition of Asiana Airlines with the goal of rapid stabilization and integration to leap to a mobility group. Moreover, it has a strategy to diversify the business portfolio of the group by focusing on securing differentiated competitiveness through expanding the communication and cooperation among affiliates encompassing aviation and transportation, logistics infrastructure, hotels and resorts, and power generation and energy as the group expands.
