- Anticipated enhancement of continuous mutual cooperation for local economic activation and regional development.

Tongyeong Eco Power Co., Ltd. is steadily expanding its cooperative efforts for regional development while advancing power plant construction.

Tongyeong Eco Power, responsible for the development and operation of the Tongyeong LNG Power Plant, has been proactively fostering collaboration for regional development. Following a partnership agreement with Tongyeong City in 2021, the company recently signed a cooperation agreement with Goseong County, Gyeongsangnam-do, on the 14th.

Under this new agreement, Tongyeong Eco Power will actively involve local businesses in construction, procurement, and fabrication tasks related to the plant, prioritizing the engagement of local labor. The company aims to put forth greater efforts toward regional collaboration and economic growth.

Tongyeong Eco Power, as a part of the energy development project undertaken by HDC Group for stabilizing South Korea's power supply and boosting local economies, involves Hyundai Development Company (HDC), Hanwha Energy, and Hanwha Construction as shareholders. In accordance with the 6th Basic Plan for Power Supply and Demand released by the government in 2013, an investment of 1.3 trillion KRW has been allocated for constructing a 1,012MW-class LNG power plant with a 200,000kL-capacity LNG tank in the stable national industrial complex of Tongyeong City. The project, which received construction approval in December 2020, began with the commencement of the LNG terminal in April 2021 and has been progressing smoothly since the groundbreaking in November of the same year.

The current construction progress stands at 60%, and Tongyeong Eco Power aims to commence commercial operation of the power plant in July 2024. During the construction phase, approximately 1,000 workers are engaged daily, totaling around 700,000 workers annually. In the operational phase, approximately 150 personnel are expected to be stationed on-site, contributing to the influx of population in the region. Both Tongyeong City and Goseong County are projected to benefit significantly from the government's support programs for areas around the power plant, thereby enhancing local economic activity.

A representative from Tongyeong City stated, "We will continue to explore avenues of mutual cooperation with Tongyeong Eco Power to foster regional growth and coexistence." Similarly, an official from Goseong County remarked, "We will actively consider the opinions of local residents and proceed with the construction of the power plant."

A spokesperson from Tongyeong Eco Power mentioned, "Tongyeong Eco Power will steadfastly reinforce collaboration with Tongyeong City and Goseong County to contribute to the future growth of the region, including economic revitalization." Additionally, they emphasized, "Tongyeong LNG Power Plant exclusively utilizes clean LNG, a pollution-free and eco-friendly fuel."
