SEOUL-CHUNCHEON HIGHWAY is a core transportation infrastructure connecting the Seoul metropolitan area with Gangwon and the East Coast economic regions, strengthening east–west connectivity across Korea and facilitating the dynamic flow of people and goods.

With the advancement of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and infrastructure upgrades, we have addressed roadway capacity constraints with technology. Approx. 75% of the total route (61.4 km) operates under a smart reversible lane system, enabling flexible responses to fluctuating traffic demand.

Capacity enhancements—including the six-lane expansion between Wolmun 3 Tunnel and Hwado JCT, the adoption of reversible lanes between Misa Bridge and Wolmun 1 Tunnel, and ramp expansion at Hwado IC—have optimized road space and delivered a smoother, congestion-reduced driving experience.
